What is a Vested Beneficiary?

A beneficiary who has a guaranteed right to receive assets from a trust or estate, typically without conditions, making it more difficult to change or remove their entitlement.

A beneficiary who has a legal right to receive benefits or distributions from a trust or estate, typically as a result of being named in the trust document or will. Vested beneficiaries have guaranteed rights to their share of the assets, which cannot be revoked or altered by the grantor without their consent. This is in contrast to contingent beneficiaries, who only have a right to inherit if certain conditions are met.
