What is Probate Fraud?

The act of intentionally deceiving or misrepresenting information to gain an unfair financial advantage during the probate process, such as falsifying a will or concealing assets.

Any fraudulent activity intended to deceive others during the probate process, typically to gain an unfair advantage in the distribution of the decedent’s estate. Examples of probate fraud include falsifying a will, concealing or misrepresenting estate assets, or manipulating the decedent into changing their will or trust. Probate fraud is a serious offense that can lead to legal penalties, including disinheritance, fines, and imprisonment for the perpetrators.
