What is a Settlor?
Another word for trustor. A person who creates a trust to specify how they want their assets distributed upon their death and to which beneficiaries.
The person who creates a trust by transferring assets into it and establishing the terms and conditions under which the trust will operate. The settlor, also referred to as the grantor or trustor, defines the beneficiaries, appoints a trustee, and outlines the purpose of the trust. The settlor’s intentions are critical in ensuring the trust effectively serves its intended purpose, whether for estate planning, asset protection, or charitable giving.
