What is an Administrator?
A person appointed by the court to manage and distribute the estate of a deceased person who did not leave a will.
A person appointed by the probate court to manage and distribute the estate of a person who has died without a will (intestate). The administrator has similar duties to an executor, including collecting assets, paying debts, and distributing property to heirs according to state law. Unlike an executor, who is named in a will, an administrator is appointed by the court, often a close relative or interested party.
